Scented Candle

Since 2012, we have produced a limited number of 1.5 litre bottles, our Magnums. To create this special edition, the Abt 12 is bottled into a special dark brown St.Bernardus magnum bottle on which the brewery logo is printed in relief. Each edition of the labels on these bottles has been designed by a new artist, and all of their art works are kept in the brewery’s art collection. This unique candle is crafted in the Magnum 2015 edition of which we had a thousand some unfilled bottles still in stock. We had to rethink. This is our idea of upcycling and underpinning a more sustainable approach. This creative solution to give a thousandsome unfilled Abt 12 Magnum bottles a new life came about thanks to the collaboration with Dekocandle. This Belgian company from Dottignies creates candles in a traditional way: the wicks are placed by hand and the colors and scents are mixed manually. The quality for our beers is of the utmost importance for us and the same values apply to Dekocandle. They aim for quality, sustainability and the shortest possible supply chain.
